DEP Seeks Members for Environmental Justice Advisory Board

The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking candidates to join the Environmental Justice Advisory Board.

The board’s mission is to ensure the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all commonwealth residents regardless of race, color, national origin or income in the environmental decision-making process.

Members of the advisory board conduct fact-findings, develop protocols and make recommendations to the department with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies.

Potential candidates should have an interest in environmental justice issues and have a background in one of the following areas: environmental justice, community residents, public sector (other government entities), academia, industry, public policy, public health, community groups, faith-based organizations, health insurance, hospitals, transportation or environmental health.

Interested candidates should be able to attend the board’s quarterly meetings in Harrisburg. All members of the advisory board are volunteers and do not receive compensation from DEP, although the department will reimburse all travel expenses to attend meetings. Appointments are for two-year terms.
