DEP Meeting/Hearing Jan. 27 On Oak Hall Quarry Permit In State College

Department of Environmental Protection Friday announced it will hold a public meeting and hearing on January 27 to solicit comments regarding Hanson Aggregates Pennsylvania LLC’s request to modify the surface mining permit at its Oak Hall Quarry. The public meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Mount Nittany Middle School, 656 Brandywine Drive, State College, PA 16801. Following the meeting, a formal public hearing will take place to receive comments from interested citizens. Those wishing to provide oral testimony at the hearing will be required to sign-up at the beginning of the meeting and will be limited to a maximum of five minutes. Written comments may also be submitted. The requested permit modification would authorize a maximum depth of +760 feet mean seas level. Currently, the authorized maximum depth of +960 feet mean sea level. The modification would not change the areal extent of the mining operation or the permit boundaries.
