Join the Pennsylvania Green & Healthy Schools Partnership and the National Wildlife Federation for the first PA Green Schools Stakeholder Forum on February 17 at PaTTAN Harrisburg, 6340 Flank Drive, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The forum will bring together experts, practitioners, and resource providers to explore the “how,” “what,” and “why” of greening your school. Structured around NWF’s Eco-Schools USA Program, the panels will focus on issues related to Consumption and Waste and Water Conservation and Quality. An experienced facilitator will also help guide small group discussions related to school sustainability issues and student engagement, providing time to share your experiences and to develop new ideas that can be implemented at the school(s) you work with. Participants will learn about NWF’s Eco-Schools USA program and network with PA Green & Healthy Schools Partners, school stakeholders, government agencies, NGOs, and community members who share a common interest in promoting sustainability at schools. This event is free-of-charge, made possible by support from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Chesapeake Bay Trust and the Department of Environmental Protection. It has been approved for six Act 48 hours for Pennsylvania educational professionals. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all attendees. There is also limited funding available to cover substitute teacher reimbursements. Submit reimbursement requests, including number of teachers and cost, or any general questions about the event to Holly Shields by sending email to: hshields@nwf.org as soon as possible. Next Forum The next PA Green and Healthy Schools session will be on May 24 in Johnstown during the PA Envirothon at the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown Campus in Cambria County where there will be a Green and Healthy Schools workshop and discussion joined by teachers and leaders at the Envirothon.
