Backyard Composting Workshops Set In Allegheny County By PA Resources Council

The PA Resources Council is hosting 10 backyard composting workshops in Allegheny County in March, May and June.  The workshops will be held--

-- March 18: Blueberry Hill Park, 10:30 to Noon;

-- March 22: Phipps Garden Center, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m;

-- May 6: Ross Twp. Community Center, Noon to 1:30 p.m.;

-- May 9: Carnegie Municipal Building, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.;

-- May 10: Fern Hollow, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.;

-- May 16: North Park-Rose Barn, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.;

-- May 18: Boyce Park-Activity Center, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.;

-- May 20: Lauri ann West Community Center, 10:30 to Noon;

-- May 24: South Park-Buffalo Inn, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.; and

-- June 8: Phipps Garden Center, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

The workshop educates attendees on the importance and benefits of composting, the process, setting up a compost pile, proper maintenance, and ways of using finished compost.

Participants will receive a FreeGarden EARTH compost bin with attendance. This bin is an ideal bin for urban and suburban areas and has an 82-gallon capacity.

The cost for the workshop is: $70 single/ $75 couple and includes one compost bin.
