Clean out the closets, the garage and the basement!  On Earth Day, April 22 the PA Resources Council’s sixth annual ReuseFest will offer a one-day collection event for materials destined for reuse by local nonprofits in Pittsburgh.

The festivities will take place on April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at UPMC Passavant “green” parking lot off Babcock Boulevard in McCandless, North Hills in Allegheny County.

Stop by ReuseFest between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to enjoy a special Earth Day celebration featuring food trucks, a pop-up shop and giveaways.

All materials donated during the four-hour event will be reused in some fashion, whether resold, repurposed or given to those in need in our region and around the world.

This year's collection will support Animal Rescue League, Brother’s Brother, Catholic Charities, Construction Junction, Free Ride, Global Links, Goodwill, Off the Floor, Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse and UPMC Medical Equipment Recycling Program

All local nonprofits will collect materials for FREE including art supplies, bedding & bath, bikes, general household items, kitchen items, medical supplies, pet supplies, usable building materials, vintage items and much more.

“This one-of-a-kind collection event provides area residents with an opportunity to responsibly donate a variety of unwanted but still usable items to multiple local non-profits at one convenient location,” according to PRC Regional Director Justin Stockdale.  “All materials donated at ReuseFest will be reused in some fashion, whether resold, repurposed or given to those in need in our region and around the world.”

“During the past five events, PRC has collected and diverted tens of thousands of pounds of materials from local landfills,” said Stockdale.  “Items donated and reused to benefit the local community have included everything from canes, crutches and wheelchairs to cat carriers, light fixtures and literally the kitchen sink.”

Visit PRC’s ReuseFest webpage or call 412-773-7156 for a more complete list of materials collected.  The sixth annual ReuseFest is presented by the PA Resources Council in association with UPMC.
