Westmoreland Cleanways Hosts July 15 Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on July 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Westmoreland CleanWays Recycling Center, 113 Innovative Lane in Latrobe. Pre-registration is required, and a fee of $.75 per pound (additional fee for mercury) will be charged to all participants. Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling members will receive a $.10 per pound discount on the cost of disposal. Material that WILL NOT be accepted include: electronics, Freon appliances, explosives/ammunition, radioactive waste, medicines or medical waste, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, or any substance regulated by the US Drug Enforcement Administration. ECS&R, a hazardous waste contractor from Crawford County, is handling registration and conducting the event. Register by visit the ECS&R website or call ECS&R at 1-866-815-0016. The amount due will be determined on site, depending on the weight of material to be disposed; payment can be made by cash, check (made out to ECS&R), debit or credit card.
