Senate Committee Schedules Hearing on MTBE, Gasoline Additives

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee will hold a hearing on the impact gasoline additives like MTBE and ethanol have on fuel supplies and the environment on April 5. The Committee will hear testimony on proposals to ban the use of methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), the availability of ethanol, and the impact additives have on fuel supplies and the environment. Scheduled to testify at the hearing are representatives of the Department of Environmental Protection and Department of Agriculture, the Associated Petroleum Industries of PA, Lyondell Chemical Company and the Campaign for Clean Air and Clean Water. A hearing agenda, witness testimony and a transcript of the hearing will be posted on the Committee's website as the information becomes available. Senator Mary Jo White (R-Venango) is the Majority Chair of the Committee and Sen. Ray Musto (D-Luzerne) is Minority Chair. |
