U.S. Economic Development Administration Offers Coal Communities Assistance Grants

The U.S. Economic Development Administration Friday announced it is accepting applications for $30 million in Community Assistance Grants for communities in coal mining areas. The funds will be awarded on a competitive basis to assist communities severely impacted by the declining use of coal through activities and programs that support economic diversification, job creation, capital investment, workforce development and re-employment opportunities. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Funds not obligated by October 1 may not be available for awarding.
