Paxton Creek Watershed Assn Hosts 4 Upcoming Educational Workshops In Harrisburg

The Paxton Creek Watershed and Education Association in Dauphin County, a volunteer group working to protect the Paxton Creek, is holding four free educational workshops for students and adults-- -- August 10: Rain Barrel Education for Businesses: Workshop attendees will learn how to build and properly utilize rain barrels particularly as they can be used on business properties (and churches). Lower Paxton Township Municipal Building, Rm. 171, 425 Prince Street, Harrisburg starting at 6:00 p.m. -- August 12: Paxton Creek, Your Local Waterway: This workshop is geared toward homeowners and residents along Paxton Creek and its tributaries. It will provide basic educational information about stormwater runoff, water quality, and water quantity issues facing the Paxton Creek Watershed. Susquehanna Township Municipal Building, 1900 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. -- September 16: Watershed Decisions For Students & Their Families: This hands-on workshop is geared toward youth 12 to 18 years old. It will be lead by Penn State Extension, Watershed Youth Development Educator, Jennifer Fetter. The workshop has been designed by Jen to help older youth and adults to better understand water quality issues surrounding small watersheds and the decision making processes that go into improving water quality issues. Dauphin County, East Shore Library, Conference Rooms A & B, 4501 Ethel St, Harrisburg from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. -- October 4: Greening Our Cities & Towns: Presented by Thomas Hylton, Pulitzer Prize Winning Author and Conservationist. This workshop explores the many ways that trees can transform the livability of our cities and towns. Appalachian Brewing Company, 50 N.
