Capital RC&D Southcentral PA Grazing School Aug. 25-26 In Lebanon County

A grazing school for livestock farmers of all experience levels will take place in Lebanon County on August 25 and 26, hosted by the Capital Resource Conservation & Development Area Council.

The program will showcase experienced and successful grass-based farmers as well as technical experts and will provide participants with opportunities to network and learn from each other.

The two day grazing school will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening with a pasture walk at Blue Mt. View Farm, a grazing dairy in Annville. The pasture walk will be followed by concurrent in-field training in pasture monitoring and basic fencing and wrap-up with an ice-cream social.

The second day begins at 8:00 a.m. August 26, at the Ono United Methodist Church with classroom instruction and break-out sessions followed by lunch. Afternoon sessions will be held at Garden Meadow Farm, a grass-based beef operation also in Annville. The afternoon session includes both a pasture walk and in-field training.

This event is sponsored by the National Grazing Lands Coalition, PA Grazing Lands Coalition, Chesapeake Bay Foundation-PA and Capital RC&D.
