DEP Proposes Water Quality Cert. For 42-Inch Natural Gas Pipeline In Lancaster, Chester Counties

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the August 19 PA Bulletin (page 4901) it intends to issue a Section 401 Water Quality Certification for the Northeast Supply Enhancement natural gas pipeline project to run through Lancaster and Chester counties.

The project involves installation of about 10.17 miles of new 42-inch natural gas pipeline parallel to an existing pipeline along a route located in Eden, Drunmore and East Drumore townships in Lancaster County and East Whiteland Township in Chester County.

The pipeline will cross 11 streams and 11 wetlands. Four permanent access roads and the addition of one 21,902 horsepower motor-driven compressor at the existing Compressor Station 200 are also proposed.

Comments are due to DEP by September 18.

Comments must be submitted in writing and contain the name, address and telephone number of the person commenting and a concise statement of comments, objections or suggestions on this proposal. No comments submitted by facsimile will be accepted.
