Local High School Students Will Compete in 2006 PA Envirothon May 22-23

The 2006 Pennsylvania Envirothon will be held May 22 and 23 at the Penn State Mont Alto Campus in Franklin County. The Envirothon is a competition that tests teams of high school students on their knowledge of soils/land use, forestry, aquatic ecology and wildlife. The teams compete at the county level and only one team from each county attends the statewide event. Each team's knowledge is tested under the supervision of foresters, soil scientists, wildlife specialists and other natural resource professionals. Teamwork, problem solving and oral presentation skills are evaluated as each team offers a panel of judges an oral presentation containing recommendations for solving an environmental challenge presented to them.
