Photo

The PA Resources Council and its partners will hold a Household Chemical Collection Event on July 21 at Wild Things Park, One Washington Federal Way in Washington, Washington County from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Clean out the closets, the garage, the basement and the garden shed!

PRC is providing residents with an opportunity to safely and cost effectively dispose of common household chemicals such as such as cleaners, paints, stains and varnishes, batteries, motor oil and pesticides.

The cost to safely dispose of materials at this collection is $3/gallon (a few exceptions apply), cash only.  Once collected and processed by the certified contractor, materials will be recycled, incinerated or safely disposed in special landfills.

The 2018 household chemical collection campaign – which presents seven events throughout western Pennsylvania during spring, summer and fall – is a project of the PA Resources Council in conjunction with Allegheny County Health Department, Allegheny County Parks Department, Beaver County Commissioners, Cambria County Solid Waste Authority, Fayette County Commissioners, Washington County, AAA East Central, Colcom Foundation, UPMC, LANXESS, NOVA Chemicals, PA American Water, PA Department of Environmental Protection, Concurrent Technologies Corporation, Washington County Family Entertainment and NewsRadio 1020 KDKA.

Since launching household chemical collections in 2003, PRC and its partners have collected and safely disposed of well over 4.5 million pounds of chemicals from nearly 50,000 households during 80+ drive-thru PRC collections held in nine counties.
