he Allegheny Land Trust is hosting two environmental educator workshops in the next few weeks in the Pittsburgh area lead by Julie Travaglini.  They include--

-- July 24: Utilizing Nature Storybooks At Pittsburgh Botanic Garden: This hands on course is intended to provide educators with the knowledge and skills needed to incorporate nature-themed books into their classrooms. Games, dramatic play, songs, craft and lesson themes will all be explored from a wide array of nature-themed early childhood storybooks! A tour of the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden will be given by Garden staff members and they will be on hand to discuss how nature storybooks play into their programming.  Click Here to register or for more information.

-- August 7: Animal Architects: Using Nature's Builders To Teach STEM At Upper St. Clair Library: What is an architect and how can animals be architects without using pencils, computers, and blueprints? This hands-on workshop will explore how cross-curricular topics such as ecology and environmental science can be used to teach math and engineering. We will discover how the expertise of animal architects such as spiders, beavers, and birds can be utilized in an early childhood classroom to teach STEAM concepts.  Click Here to register or for more information.
