Penn State Extension will offer a Biochar and Torrefied Biomass Short Course on October 24-25 at the Penn State University Agricultural Engineering Building, Shortlidge Road, University Park.

Biochar and Torrefied Biomass Short Course covers principles and opportunities in the emerging area of biomass conversion to biochar and torrefied biomass. The two-day short course will include presentations, discussions, research tour, and networking opportunities.

Biochar is being increasingly used in rain gardens and urban tree plantings to assist plant growth and absorb water to reduce stormwater pollution and flooding.
