The first Penn State Water Insights Seminar of the series will be held on October 9 on the topic of using sensors to map cover crop biomass nitrogen content, soil texture and soil organic matter. The presenter will be Charlie White, Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist on Soil Fertility and Nutrient Management. White has been an extension associate, research associate, and is now an assistant professor at Penn State working on a variety of soil fertility and nutrient management topics in agronomic crops. His previous work has focused on nitrogen management with cover crops, soil health, and soil testing methods. He holds a Master’s Degree in Soil Science from the University of Maryland and a PhD in Soil Science from Penn State. The Seminar will be held in Room 312 of the Agriculture and Bio Engineering Building on University Park Campus starting at Noon. There is also an option to join the Seminar via Zoom. Water Insights Seminars are a weekly interdisciplinary series presenting talks on water science, water management, and water policy and is intended to engage the University and broader community in collaborative learning and discussion about critical water challenges from local to global scales.
