Nearly $17 Million Awarded to Protect PA’s Natural Resources, Open Space

Pennsylvania residents in 23 counties will benefit from a near $17 million investment in land conservation projects announced this week by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources that are designed to protect open space and the state’s natural resources. Funding for the grants comes from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Growing Greener II and Keystone Fund, a DCNR fund generated from a portion of the realty transfer tax.

Projects range from a $1.8 million grant to acquire a conservation easement on approximately 1,100 acres in Milford Township, Pike County, to a $12,000 grant for a 2-acre trail and park expansion in Union Township, Berks County.

A list of all grants awarded is available online.
