Audenreid Tunnel Treatment System Dedication June 17

The Catawissa Creek Restoration Association, Columbia and Schuylkill Conservation Districts and many partners are inviting the public to join them in celebrating the completion of the Audenreid Mine Tunnel Acid Mine Drainage Treatment System June 17, from 12:00 p.m. to This system passively treats up to 14,000 gallons per minute of acidic mine water discharging from the Audenreid Tunnel. In terms of amount of water treated it is the largest passive AMD treatment system ever built in Treatment of the Audenreid discharge has improved the water quality of approximately 25 miles of the Catawissa Creek, a stream that will soon be a “World Class Trout Fishery”. The system is located on private property and this will probably be the only time that the public will be able to visit and see first hand what public and private partnerships can do in order to restore our environment.
