On February 5, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation-PA issued the following statement from Pennsylvania Executive Director Harry Campbell, in response to Gov. Tom Wolf’s FY 2019-20 budget proposal--

“This new budget season is a watershed moment if the Commonwealth is to provide the cleanest and healthiest water for Pennsylvanians.

“The Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s (CBF) biennial State of the Bay report makes it clear that the Commonwealth has a lot of work to do if it is to get back on track toward meeting its commitment to clean water.

“Success in reducing the amount of pollution flowing into our rivers and streams will take greater, sustainable investments by the legislature in the right places, on the right practices, and on the right partnerships.

“Investing in nature-based efforts, like strategically placed trees alongside streams and streets, rotational grazing, and farm field cover crops will result in more productive farms, vibrant communities, and healthy streams.

“CBF looks forward to working with the Governor and legislators toward a legacy of clean water worth leaving future generations.”
