The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is scheduled to hold an informational meeting April 8 discussing polystyrene in Pennsylvania and the consequences of a statewide ban.

Presenters expected to offer comments are--

-- John Feraco, NOVA Chemicals Corporation

-- Paul Poe, Dart Container Corporation

Rep. Tim Briggs (D-Montgomery) introduced House 627 this session to ban polystyrene food packaging to reduce litter and to prevent microscopic particles of the material to “migrate to our waterways, poisoning aquatic wildlife that mistake the small particles for food.”  (sponsor summary)

Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery) sent around a co-sponsor memo in January announcing his intention to reintroduce a companion bill this session-- Senate Bill 1233 last session.
