Brandywine River Cleanup Set For April 20 In Chester County
Photo

Help us clean up the river! The Brandywine Conservancy is seeking volunteers to assist with its 26th Annual Brandywine River Cleanup on April 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This annual event helps ensure cleaner water for more than 500,000 residents who rely on the Brandywine River as their primary source of drinking water—including those living in Coatesville and Downingtown, PA and the City of Wilmington, DE.

It also aids in providing a healthier habitat for wildlife and a safer environment for recreational activities.

Since the event's inception, volunteers have removed more than 30 tons of trash from the banks of the Brandywine between Lenape, PA and the Delaware state line.

For this year’s cleanup efforts, the Brandywine Conservancy has teamed up with East Bradford Township and West Bradford Township for a neighborhood collaboration that will encompass the banks of the Brandywine along Shaw’s Bridge Park and Brandywine Meadows Preserve Trail.

Volunteers are advised to wear hats, long pants, heavy shoes or boots, and sunscreen. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. Lunch at both locations will be offered for all volunteers following the cleanup at Noon.

The river cleanups are located at Brandywine Meadows Preserve Trail (1355 Downingtown Pike, Downingtown, PA 19335) and Shaw’s Bridge Park (274 South Creek Road, West Chester, PA 19382).

To volunteer at one of the cleanup locations, please contact Kaitlin LeRoy by sending email to: kleroy@brandywine.org or call 610-388-8341. Online registration is available. This event is appropriate for adults and children over the age of five.
