Senate/House Bills Moving Last Week

The following bills of interest saw action last week in the House and Senate-- House Lyme Disease: House Bill 629 (Rapp-R-Warren) further providing for insurance claims related to Lyme Disease was removed from the Table, referred into and out of the House Appropriations Committee (House Fiscal Note and summary) and passed by the House. The bill now goes to the Senate for action. Construction Code: House Bill 349 (Heffley-R-Carbon) related to third-party enforcement on statewide Construction code (House Fiscal Note and summary) was passed by the House and now goes to the Senate for action. Construction Code: House Bill 422 (Delozier-R-Cumberland) creating a trainee program for code enforcement was referred into and out of the House Appropriations Committee (House Fiscal Note and summary) and passed by the House. It now goes to the Senate for action Eastern Hellbender: Senate Bill 9 (Yaw-R-Lycoming) designating the Eastern Hellbender as the state’s official amphibian (sponsor summary) was removed from the Table and is now on the House Calendar for Action. Fish & Boat Commission Fees: House Bill 808 (Mehaffie-R-Dauphin) authorizing the Fish and Boat Commission to adopted its own fees for 3 years (sponsor summary) was referred to the House Appropriations Committee. Non-Building Waivers: House Bill 103 (Maloney-R-Berks) requiring municipalities to accept a Non-Building Waiver from sewage requirements from DEP (sponsor summary) was amended on the House Floor and referred to the House Appropriations Committee. Senate Nominations: The nomination of Russell Redding for Secretary of Agriculture was unanimously reported out of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. Lyme Disease: Senate Resolution 74 (Dinniman-D-Chester) designating May as Lyme and Tick-borne Disease Awareness Month was introduced and adopted (sponsor summary). Ag Land Preservation: Senate Bill 145 (Yaw-R-Lycoming) amending the Agricultural Area Security Law to voluntarily relinquish the right to construct an additional residence (sponsor summary) was reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee (Senate Fiscal Note and summary) and is now on the Senate Calendar for action. Construction Code: Senate Bill 453 (Ward-R-Westmoreland) exempting agricultural buildings from statewide Construction Code (sponsor summary) was reported out of the Senate Labor and Industry Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action. |
