PPL Community Roots Program Now Accepting Tree Orders For Spring, Fall 2020

PPL Electric Utilities launched its Community Roots Tree Program in the fall of 2017 to offer free bare root seedlings and potted trees to environmentally-focused groups, municipal and county governments and schools (4th Grade) in its service territory. The response has been overwhelming and PPL couldn’t be happier. To date, they’ve distributed nearly 40,000 trees across our service territory in central and eastern Pennsylvania. Trees are available for spring and fall planting each year and orders must be placed by the listed seasonal deadlines. Trees can be ordered while supplies last. All our 2019 trees have been spoken for, but ordering for spring and fall 2020 open on April 24, 2019. Check out the Community Roots Tree Program for details and to use the online ordering tool. And last, but certainly not least, be sure to plant trees in the right place so they won’t interfere with overhead power lines or underground utilities as they grow. And always call 811 before you dig. NewsClips: Will American Chestnut Trees Stage Comeback Near Bethlehem’s Reservoirs?
