On May 1, the Senate unanimously passed Senate Resolution 103 (Yaw-R-Lycoming) designating May 5-11 Conservation District Week. The resolution was sponsored by Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming), Majority Chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. Sen. Yaw noted 66 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties have a conservation district office. These offices have volunteer directors and staff who work to enhance locally led efforts that support the wise use of the state’s natural resources. “Through leadership, education and planning, our county conservation districts are committed to protecting our natural resources,” said Sen. Yaw. “They are the boots on the ground when it comes to conserving our natural resources and developing programs and projects consistent with environmental stewardship. I am proud to extend warm wishes to our county conservation districts and recognize the week of May 5th as ‘Conservation District Week’ in Pennsylvania.” “We are excited to celebrate Conservation District Week,” said Brenda J.
