City Of Lancaster To Hold Public Presentation Of Municipal Operations Climate Action Plan May 9

The City of Lancaster will present its Municipal Operations Climate Action Plan on May 9 at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince Street starting at 6:30 p.m.

The City’s plan represents a bold step forward and a steadfast commitment to meeting the terms set forth by the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement. This plan specifically addresses municipal operations, such as the City’s fleet of vehicles, energy sources for City-operated facilities, and street lighting.

The program will include remarks by several speakers--

-- Mayor Danene Sorace, City of Lancaster

-- Douglas Smith, Senior Planner, City of Lancaster: Smith will present the details of the plan, including the vision, emission reduction goals, and proposed strategies.

-- Marie Cusick, Harrisburg reporter for WITF StateImpact PA:  Cusick will deliver the keynote speech, regarding climate policy in Pennsylvania.

-- Dr. Richard Alley, Professor of Geosciences, Penn State: Dr. Alley, whose expertise is climate science, will join the program via Skype for a Q&A with Cusick.

After the presentation has concluded, audience members will have the chance to ask questions.

This event is free and open to the public, however, due to limited seating, we ask that attendees RSVP through Eventbrite or Facebook Event.
