Senate/House Bills Moving Last Week

The following bills of interest saw action last week in the House and Senate--

House

Paying Drilling Rights Owners: House Bill 827 (Fritz-R-Wayne) requiring the Delaware River Basin Commission to reimburse property owners for drilling rights if the Commission adopts a ban on fracking was reported from the House Appropriations Committee (House Fiscal Note and summary) and is now on the House Calendar for action.  Click Here for more.

Waste Tire Penalties: House Bill 342 (Cruz-D- Philadelphia) amends the Waste Tire Disposal Act to provide for a $5,000/tire penalty for illegal dumping of tires (sponsor summary) was amended to reduce the fine to $500 and reported out of the House Urban Affairs Committee and Tabled.

Bike To Work: House Resolution 240 (Maloney-R-Berks) designating May as Bike Month and the week of May 13-17 as Bike To Work Week was adopted by the House (sponsor summary).

Earth Day: House Resolution 257 (Murt-R-Montgomery) encouraging all residents of Pennsylvania to observe Earth Day on April 22 was adopted by the House (sponsor summary).

Endangered Species Day: House Resolution 338 (McCarter-D-Montgomery) designating May 17 as Endangered Species Day in Pennsylvania was adopted by the House (sponsor summary).
