The House Commerce Committee is scheduled to meet on June 11 to consider legislation to limit the use of plastic straws and require bisphenol A-free containers. The bills include--
-- House Bill 1176 (Daley-D- Montgomery) would prohibit establishments from offering plastic straws except upon request from customers (sponsor summary); and
-- House Bill 1221 (Cruz-D-Philadelphia) providing for bisphenol A-free food and beverage containers (sponsor summary)
These bills are part of the zero waste package of bills rolled out by House Democrats in April.
