The nonprofit Conservation Consultants, Inc. will present another in the series of Stepping Up Speakers Series Events on June 20 on Achieving Green and Health Homes: Housing As A Key Social Determinant Of Health - How To Fix It! in Pittsburgh at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens from 3:30 to 5:50 p.m. Through lead, radon, mold or other household health risks – home environment conditions significantly impact occupant health. Children can be disproportionately affected by adverse environmental conditions in their home, leading to increased asthma episodes, lead poisoning – or other negative health impacts. Renters and lower income households often experience higher frequency of these conditions. At Stepping Up: Achieving Green and Healthy Homes, we call on government officials, children’s health professionals, educators and interested parties throughout the region to connect with national home health leaders as they discuss practices and policies that can effect change and pave the way for lasting improvement. The event features a provocative panel that will help participants learn more about the the intrinsic link between dwelling place and individual health and wellbeing. Panel members will include-- -- Nathaniel L. Burden, Jr., CRP - Program Leader, Minority-Low Income Operational Viable Economic Solutions for Radon Environmental Justice; -- David E. Jacobs, PhD CIH - Chief Scientist, National Center for Healthy Housing; -- Joe Medosch - Healthy Building Scientist, Hayward Score; -- Ruth Ann Norton - President & CEO, Green & Healthy Homes Initiative Attendance is FREE but you must reserve your seat.
