Veterans and everyday heroes, their families, and the public can enjoy a day of paddling and fishing, food, and live music at the fifth annual “Veterans on the Susquehanna” outing at Wrightsville, York County, on August 24.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation-PA has been joined by Heroes on the Water-Central Pennsylvania Chapter, Shank’s Mare Outfitters and the Donegal Chapter of Trout Unlimited as hosts of the event.

The kayaking and fishing fun will take place at Shank’s Mare Outfitters, 2092 Long Level Road, Wrightsville, and on the Susquehanna River from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. CBF will host a dinner and refreshments, with live music by the local band “Dillweed,” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Veterans, EMS first responders and firefighters, and the public are invited and must register by August 23. There is a $5 entrance fee per person for the dinner.

Spending time on Pennsylvania waterways, like the Susquehanna River, allows veterans and everyday heroes to experience the healing, relaxing, and recreational powers of camaraderie, fishing, and clean water.
