On September 9, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn met with 40 volunteer forest fire fighters from Pennsylvania headed to northern California to help battle wildfires.

They were joined at Harrisburg Airport by firefighters from Maine, Maryland and New England.

This the first time this year Pennsylvania sent firefighters out of state. Last year DCNR organized and dispatched more than 300 volunteers in one season.
