Friends Of Allegheny Wilderness Volunteer Trail Stewardship Opportunities Oct. 5-6

The Friends of Allegheny Wilderness have several trail stewardship opportunities coming up for volunteers in Warren County on October 5-6. FAW will be going out on the Hickory Creek Wilderness trail for the final time in 2019 to clear downed woody debris and encroaching live vegetation from the trail. They may also stop briefly to reset a trail sign toward the beginning of the hike on Saturday. If you have a manual post-hole digger (not a gas-powered auger) and six-foot pry bar, those would come in handy. Volunteers will camp in the wilderness on Saturday night, and hike out late Sunday afternoon. Participants will meet at the Hickory Creek Wilderness trailhead on Hearts Content Road Saturday morning. Participants need to bring all of their own food, water, and camping gear, and come fully prepared for any weather conditions we may encounter. If you have any questions, would like additional information about either of these two events, and/or to sign up, please contact Friends of Allegheny Wilderness by sending email to: info@pawild.org.
