The PA Environmental Council, in partnership with Hanover Township, Eastern PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation and the Luzerne Conservation District will conduct a Community Illegal Dumpsite Cleanup November 9 in Luzerne County. The cleanup is part of the International Coastal Cleanup. This event will focus on cleaning up illegally dumped trash along Dundee Road, Hanover Street, and Spencer Lane in Hanover Township. This is an illegal dumpsite cleanup including a roadside cleanup. Volunteers are asked to dress appropriately. Our partners will be on site to assist in this cleanup. Food and drinks will be provided. On the day of the cleanup, volunteers will gather for registration and instructions. After registration, volunteers will be provided with work gloves and safety vest. When supplies are distributed and instructions have been given, volunteers will begin the cleanup. Families, individuals, scouting groups, 4-H groups, environmental clubs, businesses, college and university clubs, and high school students are invited to be part of this effort. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or have a parent/guardian sign a registration/insurance form prior to the cleanup and bring it with them.
