House Environmental Committee Meets Dec. 18 On Bills Exempting Industry From Waste Regulations, DCNR Land Swap

The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is scheduled to hold a meeting December 18 to consider bills providing an industry an exemption from waste regulations and a DCNR land conveyance involving Ohiopyle State Park. The bills include-- -- House Bill 1808 (Mackenzie-R-Lehigh) would provide an exemption from being regulated as a waste facility to a company in Berks County that plans to construct a 1,600 ton/day waste processing facility that would remove plastics for recycling. The Committee held an information meeting on the bill September 24. -- House Bill 2045 (Dowling-R-Fayette) would approve a land exchange between Ohiopyle Borough in Fayette County and DCNR’s Ohiopyle State Park to allow for additional water access (sponsor summary). The meeting agenda also includes the “and any other business that may come before the Committee” admonition. The meeting will be held in Room B-31 Main Capitol starting at 10:00.
