PA Master Naturalist Now Accepting Applications For 2020 Spring Training In 5 Counties

Pennsylvania Master Naturalist is now accepting applications for 2020 spring training sessions set for Allegheny, Chester, Delaware, Montour and Washington counties. The deadline for applications is February 1.

Pennsylvania Master Naturalist is a statewide partnership initiative that aims to connect people with their local ecosystems through intensive natural science training and local conservation service work.

It is a venture directed toward developing a local corps of “master volunteers and service providers” to offer education, outreach, and service dedicated to the understanding and management of natural areas within their communities.

The courses will be held in:

-- Allegheny County (coordinated by Allegheny Land Trust) -- Classes will be held weekly on Monday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m., from Saturday, March 23 through Monday, June 15, with four field sessions held on Saturdays.

-- Chester County (northern) (coordinated by Green Valleys Watershed Association) -- Classes will be held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m., from Wednesday, March 25 through Wednesday, June 10, with four field sessions held on Saturdays.

-- Delaware County (coordinated by Tyler Arboretum) -- Classes will be held weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m., from Tuesday, April 7 through Tuesday, June 16, with four field sessions held on Saturdays.

-- Montour County (coordinated by Montour Area Recreation Commission).

-- Washington County (coordinated by Allegheny Land Trust) -- Classes will be held weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.., from Thursday, March 26 through Thursday, June 18, with four field sessions held on Saturdays.

Since the Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Program began in 2010-- 400+ volunteers were trained; 41,000+ hours of volunteer service were donated equaling $960,000+ worth of service; 2,400+ acres restored; 1,000+ waterways improved; and 76,000+ people reached.
