The Eastern PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation will host a public meeting on January 16 on the final Upper Toby Creek Coldwater Conservation Plan from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the EPCAMR Office, 101 S. Main Street in Ashley, Luzerne County.

Work on the Final Draft of the Upper Toby Creek Coldwater Conservation Watershed Assessment Plan has taken place over the last year in Kingston Township, Dallas Borough and Dallas Township.

Nearly 100 recommendations for fishery and habitat improvements of the coldwater fisheries, future watershed implementation, stormwater management best management practices and a water quality and visual habitat assessment snapshot overview will be discussed.

Pollution reduction plans in partnership with Dallas Area Municipal Authority, a brief historical overview of the watershed and historic and current land uses along the Creek will be highlighted, and culvert/bridge assessments and repairs and a Fishery Survey along the Main Stem of Toby Creek will be touched on based on the results from Trout Unlimited will also be presented.

Many partnerships in the Back Mountain, including all 3 municipalities supported the assessment efforts as did many of the regional non-profits, business partners, various State Agencies, trail groups, local legislators, Stanley Cooper Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and the Luzerne Conservation District.

Additional comments will be taken and noted to be incorporated into the Final Plan submission to the Coldwater Heritage Partnership.
