The Audubon Society of Western PA will host the first meeting of the Buffalo Creek Watershed Coalition on January 23 at the Worthington-West Franklin Community Library, 214 E. Main Street, Suite 1, Civic Center, Building B in Worthington, Armstrong County from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Buffalo Creek covers 171.5 square miles in Butler, Armstrong, and Allegheny counties.  It is a high-quality watershed, it includes an Important Bird Area, has significant biological diversity, and is home to many species of conservation concern. 

ASWP recently completed the Buffalo Creek Watershed Conservation Plan 10-Year Update.

Over the last 10 years, the watershed has experienced many changes, like the loss of forest and agricultural lands to development and additional threats have surfaced from invasive species like the Wooly Hemlock Adelgid.

Through the Conservation Planning Process, ASWP, with public input, identified opportunities for restoration, partnership, and further stewardship of the IBA.

ASWP would like the public’s help to shape the priorities and activities in the Buffalo Creek Watershed.  There presently is no watershed association serving Buffalo Creek.
