The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund is now accepting applications for Innovative Nutrient and Sediment Reduction Grants.  The deadline for pre-proposals is February 28.

The grants are to support projects within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed which accelerate the rate and scale of water quality improvements specifically through the coordinated and collaborative efforts of sustainable, regional-scale1 partnerships in implementing proven water quality improvement practices more cost-effectively.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, state government agencies, local governments, municipal governments, Indian tribes, and educational institutions.

NFWF estimates awarding $5-7 million in grants.  Major funding comes from the EPA Chesapeake Bay Program Office, with other important contributions by Altria Group, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
