Senate/House Bills Moving Last Week

The following bills of interest saw action last week in the House and Senate--

Senate

Unlimited Natural Gas Use Subsidies: House Bill 1100 (Kaufer-R-Luzerne)-- which would provide unlimited taxpayer-funded subsidies of natural gas use in manufacturing through a new tax credit was reported out of the Senate Appropriations Committee (Senate Fiscal Note & Summary) and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Stream Maintenance: Senate Bill 679 (Yaw-R-Lycoming) establishing an unfunded stream maintenance program was reported out of the Senate Appropriations Committee (Senate Fiscal Note & Summary) and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

Municipal Notification: House Bill 476 (Mako-R-Northampton) providing for DEP notification of municipalities for Solid Waste Management Act violations (House Fiscal Note & Summary) was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Narrowing Grounds For Appeal: Senate Bill 726 (Bartolotta-R- Washington) which would create a new standard for the review for appeals of DEP permit actions before the Environmental Hearing Board by limiting parties appealing permit decisions-- a company or a citizens group-- to issues raised in and information contained in a record of decision on each permit DEP staff would have to prepare, Click Here for more. and  Senate Bill 727 (Bartolotta-R- Washington) would change the term of an Environmental Hearing Board judge from 6 to 5 years and limited judges to serving 2 terms, Click Here for more.
