The PA Organization for Watersheds and Rivers will host a series of six Regional Watershed Workshops to identify needs, share resource information, learn techniques to help build capacity, and network with other groups.

There will be one workshop held in each of the DEP Regional Office areas.

The workshops will be held on--

-- March 25 - Southeast: Rushton Conservation Center, Newtown Square, Chester County.  8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Agenda.  Register

-- March 27 - Southcentral: Trees and Trails Environmental Center, Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County. 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Agenda.  Register.

-- April 9 - Northeast: The Lackawanna Heritage Valley, Scranton, Lackawanna County.  8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.  Agenda.  Registration not yet available.

-- April 29 - Northwest: Erie National Wildlife Refuge, Guys Mills, Crawford County. 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Agenda.  Registration not yet available.

-- April 30 - Northcentral: Lycoming College, Williamsport, Lycoming County.  8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Agenda.  Registration not yet available.

-- May 12 - Southwest: The Watershed Farm, Loyalhanna Watershed Association Headquarters, Ligonier, Westmoreland County.  8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Agenda.  Registration not yet available.

POWR invites watershed organizations, conservancies, agency staff, county and local officials, and any other partners in the effort to protect waterways and watersheds to attend the workshop closest to you or the one with the content that most interests you.

The agendas overlap on some topics and include others that are of specific regional concern.

Invited speakers will address subjects related to nonprofit management such as volunteer recruitment and management, assessing organizational assets and strengths, and getting to know your local community foundations.

Technical-themed presentations will cover topics such as the Erosion and Sediment Program/Active Construction Permits, the Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership, floodplain management, assessing the economic value of water and watershed resources, and Chesapeake Bay Phase 3 WIP updates where appropriate.
