Delaware River Basin Commission Accepting Comments On Draft 2020 Water Quality Assessment Methodology

The Delaware River Basin Commission is now accepting comments on the draft Water Quality Assessment Methodology for 2020.  The deadline for comments is March 6.

The Commission uses this assessment methodology to assess whether the mainstem of the Delaware River and the Delaware Bay are supporting the uses designated for them by their water quality regulations.

The Commission highlighted one particular issue with previous assessment methodologies.

In previous assessment (2010-2018), units would not meet criteria when one exceedance plus one confirmatory exceedance were found.

This approach was flawed and not supportable so modifications to the assessment methodology were made.

In this report, assessment units fail to meet criteria if applicable criteria were met less than 99 percent of the time.
