The Pike County Conservation District and Wayne County Conservation District will hold a Workshop on Resource Conservation Issues Affecting Local Realtors on March 5 (snow date March 9) at the Wallenpaupack Environmental Education Center, 126 Lamberton Lane in Hawley, Wayne County from 8:00 a.m. until after lunch.

This workshop will teach the basic conservation issues that can affect someone buying a home in NEPA.

Speakers from the conservation districts and guest speakers will cover information most applicable to new homebuyers in Pike and Wayne County.

Realtors will learn how to answer basic questions related to conservation and permitting in a new home or piece of property.

The workshop will begin with an overview of local watersheds and water systems. Then Pike County and Wayne Conservation District Resource Conservationists will speak on wetland and waterway encroachments and general permits, and earth disturbance, dams, and ponds.

Topics will also include residential water resources, and forestry and agricultural concerns. Geologist Brain Oram from B.F. Environmental Consultants, Inc. and the Keystone Clean Water Team, will discuss on-lot septic system issues and private wells.

Reservations for the Workshop are $15 per person and are requested by February 28.

To register, call Pike County Conservation District at 570-226-8220 or send email to: pikecd@pikepa.org.
