On March 16 the Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee will hold an Environmental Issues Forum on the Fish and Boat Commission Cooperative Fish Nursery Program.

The Program is a collaborative effort between the Commission and volunteer sponsor organizations dedicated to enhancing fishing opportunities, supporting fishing interests and initiatives and educating citizens about culturing fish.

There are currently 146 sponsors and 159 cooperative nurseries in 49 counties in the Commonwealth.

These volunteer organizations are responsible for feeding and taking care of trout provided by the Commission.  Nearly 25 percent of trout found in Pennsylvania's waters are supplied through the Cooperative Nursery Program.

The guest speaker for the Forum will be Brian McHail, Cooperative Nursery Unit Leader.
