30+ Environmental Groups Will Hold A March 9 Rally Against HB 1100 Giving An Unlimited Subsidy For Natural Gas Use In Manufacturing

House and Senate members will join representatives of 30 environmental groups will hold a March 9 rally against House Bill 1100 giving an unlimited subsidy for the use of natural gas in manufacturing products.

The rally will be held in the Capitol Rotunda, Harrisburg at 10:00 a.m.

The bill, passed by the  General Assembly on February 4, offers billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies for the use of natural gas in manufacturing industries over the next 30 years.

During the rally, a mix of state legislators and environmental leaders will urge Gov. Tom Wolf to veto the bill, and urge the General Assembly not to attempt to override that veto.

Speakers scheduled to appear include--

-- Sen. Katie Muth (D-Chester), Rep. Sara Innamorato (D-Allegheny), Rep. Carolyn Comitta (D-Chester) and Rep. Chris Rabb (D-Philadelphia)

-- Jacquelyn Bonomo, PennFuture President and CEO,

-- Veronica Coptis, Center for Coalfield Justice Executive Director

-- Ashleigh Deemer PennEnvironment Deputy Director,

-- Rabbi Daniel Swartz of Temple Hesed in Scranton, and

-- Briann Moye, an environmental justice organizer with One Pennsylvania.

The participating groups include PennFuture, Clean Air Council, PennEnvironment, Sierra Club - Pennsylvania Chapter, Conservation Voters of PA, and The Climate Reality Project.

There will also be a live stream video through the PennFuture Facebook page.
