Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurants/Shops: Stay Safe, Eat Smart, Shop Smart, Support Your Neighbors
|
|
The health and safety of our community are always important values to us here at Sustainable Pittsburgh. With the recent COVID-19 outbreak and the precautions taken by our government, many local restaurants and shops are experiencing significantly lower foot traffic and in some cases, are closing their doors. However, it’s still possible to support local shops and restaurants. Here are some ideas: -- Order In: Many restaurants are still open for takeout or delivery options. Plus, when you use services like GrubHub, UberEats, DoorDash, etc, you are supporting your neighbors who deliver! (Be sure to tip like you were at the restaurant!) -- Buy a gift certificate or gift card for a local shop or restaurant. -- Shop online or via phone. According to the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, "many retailers have online shopping available, and our local and independent shops will help you get what you need via phone or other methods, if necessary." -- Support local service workers through the Pittsburgh Virtual Tip Jar, a new project from Carnegie Mellon University's Center for Ethics and Policy.
