The focus of this year’s Smart Growth Summit is “The Future of Agriculture in Westmoreland County.” The goal is to gather together all who are interested in the future of Westmoreland County and to provide an educational opportunity featuring the principles of Smart Growth. There is a $35 registration fee for the event.
The featured speaker is Tom Daniels, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. Tom is a Professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning. He teaches land use planning, environmental planning, metropolitan area planning, and land preservation. For nine years, he was Executive Director of the nationally-recognized Agricultural Land Preservation Program in Lancaster County, PA, where he now lives. Tom was instrumental in helping to establish a statewide farmland protection program in Pennsylvania.
