Keep PA Beautiful Announces Pick Up Pennsylvania To Be Held Sept. 1 To Nov. 30

On April 15, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful announced it will hold its annual Pick Up Pennsylvania cleanup and community beautification program September 1 to November 30.  Registration will tentatively open on August 1 for groups organizing cleanups.

Information on the availability of cleanup supplies and supply distribution details for groups that register will be communicated as they become available.

The Pick Up Pennsylvania program is usually held in the spring but was postponed due to concerns about COVID-19.

“We will have a lot of catching up to do this fall. Until then, please don’t litter. Littering anything is wrong, but littering masks and gloves meant to keep us safe, will only increase the potential of spreading the disease,” said Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. “Please remember to respect the environment, fellow citizens, waste haulers and public works’ maintenance crews who are making sacrifices to serve our communities and hold on to your trash until you get home. It’s up to each individual to take initiative to keep our communities clean.”

The new dates for Pick Up Pennsylvania means it will be held in conjunction with both the International Coastal Cleanup and national Great American Cleanup as well as Public Lands Day on September 26; however, cleanup support will be available throughout the three-month period.
