PA Parks & Forests Foundation: Over 960 Masks Distributed To DCNR State Park, Forest Staff

On April 28, the PA Parks and Forests Foundation said over 960 cloth masks have been distributed to staff at 39 state parks and forest districts, so far, to help protect staff and the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thirty-two volunteers and two organizations dedicated their time and talents to make the masks.

The volunteers from the PA Parks and Forests Foundation included: Jessica Beamesderfer Mary Bowser; Claire Confer; Johanna Cordell; Alice Doxsey; Judi Fasic; Eileen Frey; Amanda Galvan; Missy Grove; Maxine Harrison; Cathy Jackson; Charla Keffer; Deirdre McPhillips; Rebecca Miller; Missy Molino; Marci Mowery; Jenn Ott

Volunteers from Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps youth employment program included: Michael Piaskowski; Ginny Price; Sean Quinlan; Annette Roy; Melodie Schwarz-Higgins; Susie Seifert; Nadine Simms;Maryann Skubecz; Linda Smith; and Teresa Sterner

The volunteers from Stitchers Corp of Central PA were: Sarah Yerger; Mary Soderberg; and Missy Molino

“Most of the volunteers were park and forest enthusiasts who wanted to make a difference for the places that are special to them. PPFF coordinated the volunteers and the mask distribution,” said PPFF President Marci Mowery.

Volunteers included a card with the masks and some even wrote personal notes.

DCNR would like to send a big thank you to the state park and forest volunteers, and the PA Outdoor Corps, who keep working to protect our natural places, visitors, and staff!
