The Chesapeake Stormwater Network and Friends are hosting a Watershed Hacks: Sustainable Lawns & Family Gardening webinar May 8 from 11:00 a.m. to Noon.

CSN and Friends will also host a Modeling Stream Restoration in CAST webinar May 14 from Noon to 1:00 p.m.

Take the Zen approach to lawn and find out how to manage your yard to look better while forking out less for fertilizer, herbicides and outdoor watering. Engage in simple and sustainable practices to reduce runoff and pollutant expert from your lawn.

Learn how to identify and safely control the non-native plants that have invaded your yard. Learn new ways to trick your children into enjoying monotonous tasks like weeding, mulching and composting

This is Part 4 of a weekly series from CSN and Friends on tips and tricks for restoring your home ground. In this series, we’ll focus on activities that are simple, low cost, and can be done with materials on hand or found on-line.

We’ll also discuss how these activities can engage our families, get us outside in this fine Spring weather and maybe even provide a few teachable moments for our kids. Tune into our new informal weekly webcast series to pick up a few new tricks and maybe share some of your own!

May 14 Webinar

With hundreds of miles of stream restoration expected across the watershed in the next few years, it can be helpful for planners and watershed managers to be able to look at how those projects can help them meet their pollutant reduction goals.

In this joint webcast with Olivia Devereux, we will be talking about the Chesapeake Bay Program modeling tools simulate stream restoration practices, then you will get a tutorial for how to enter stream restoration BMPs into CAST, the user-facing Chesapeake Bay Watershed Model, to see how effective your projects will be.
