Philadelphia Park Fest 2006 Celebrates Pennsylvania’s Southeast Coastline
|
In keeping with the City of Philadelphia’s “World-class Events” initiative, three recreational events have partnered to form a creative new venture: Park Fest 2006 on September 16 at the Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center. Visitors will be able to kick off a relaxing day by participating in the Philadelphia Water Department’s Philly Fun Fishing Fest from 7 to 11 a.m. Or they can get some exercise at Fairmount Park’s annual Run/Walk for the Park, which leaves the starting line at 9 a.m. After these two events, everyone is welcome to attend Southeastern Pennsylvania Coast Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Coast Day will feature activities for the whole family, including numerous interactive exhibits, a Wonders of Water Challenge, prizes, music, food and more. Sponsors for this year’s event include: the Fairmount Park Commission, Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Pennsylvania Coastal Zone Management Program, Department of Environmental Protection, Philadelphia Water Department, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and more.
