With Gov. Wolf easing some COVID-19 restrictions and moving Pike County into the Yellow Phase of reopening on Friday, May 29, Grey Towers National Historic Site will begin to adjust and align its activities.

The USDA Forest Service will:

-- Begin to have some staff return to the site with health and safety restrictions in place in order to plan for an eventual orderly and safe re-opening to the public;

-- Have some staff continue to serve the public virtually or by teleworking;

-- Continue to welcome pedestrians to the grounds for leisurely walking and enjoyment, while following all CDC and health department guidelines for safety and social distancing;

-- Postpone the re-opening of public tours, programs and events; and

-- Keep vehicular gates, restrooms and other facilities closed.

Staff will begin facilities and maintenance work and plan the re-opening of public access and programs in alignment with current Federal, State, and local guidance for social distancing and to ensure the health and safety of its employees, visitors, and volunteers.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, continues to assess its public programs and access to public sites. Grey Towers will implement safety measures and health precautions as re-opening occurs.

The grounds have been open to pedestrians throughout the COVID crisis, providing a peaceful and inspirational location for people to walk, get some fresh air, and enjoy the landscape.

Visitors who opt to stroll the grounds are urged to follow all CDC guidelines, including social distancing, wearing a mask and other precautions. No restroom facilities are available at this time.
